Meet Stephanie, Chiropractic Assistant

Stephanie - Chiropractic Assistant

Chiropractic care has had a huge impact on my life. For years I suffered from migraines, dizziness, and bad posture. Although my mom, dad, and brother had been receiving chiropractic care for years, I still resisted until my headaches were drastically affecting my everyday life. It was time for me to become a patient at Embody Wellness! My headaches and dizziness are much improved and I am on the road to wellness! A few months after starting as a Practice Member, I was given a wonderful opportunity to join the Embody Team and have not looked back since. I am now a Chiropractic Assistant!

I love helping others and have always been drawn to environments that give me this opportunity. It is amazing to see the impact chiropractic care has on people. I feel inspired everyday to be better and to help more people. The Team at Embody is truly amazing, I am so proud to be able to work with such great people.

Outside of work, I enjoy having fun and spending time with my family, friends, and 2 dogs. I like to read and love summer nights. As well, in the summer I like to visit Kelowna to enjoy the mountains and relax on the beach.

Meet Candice, Chiropractic Assistant

Candice - Chiropractic Assistant

Living a healthy, active, fulfilling life has always been important to me. I have always strived to eat healthy, exercises and live my life to the fullest. As a child I discovered that loving and caring for others was one of the most fulfilling things I could do with my life. This led me on some amazing adventures! Just a few of these include volunteering at camps for children with special needs, teaching and practicing English with children and university students in Thailand and China and building homes for people in South America. Being a part of the team at Embody is another way I am able to care for and help others.

I love coming to work and seeing the difference that Chiropractic care is making in peoples lives. It truly helps people to be able to live their lives more fully than they could before. The team at Embody is such a caring and genuine group of individuals. I feel so blessed to be a part of it!

When I am not working, I enjoy being creative through cooking healthy meals for my husband and myself or working on my artwork. We also try to take full advantage of the beautiful country we live in as much as we can through hiking, camping, taking our puppy to the dog park, snowboarding and taking road trips.

Massage Therapist

Massage Therapist, Terri-Anne

Meet Terri-Anne Soukoroff, Massage Therapist

Born and raised in Fernie, British Columbia, I have been practicing massage for over ten years. I graduated from West Coast College in Vancouver from the 2200 hour program in 1996 and am a registered therapist in both British Columbia and Alberta. My main goals are to educate and use massage therapy in conjunction with other medical disciplines. I believe massage therapy is a fundamental part of a person's lifestyle, good health and overall wellbeing. I am very passionate about working with athletes as well as patients who are generally concerned about maintaining their overall health. As a mother of two, I enjoy running, skiing, hockey, and just being in the beautiful outdoors.

Meet DJ McClelland, Massage Therapist

Going through High School it was all about sports until I ended up getting injured with a concussion and having to call it quits. This inspired me to understand the body and how it works and heals, prompting me to find schooling in an hands-on and interactive field that can be focused on sports. Graduating from Foothills College of Massage Therapy in 2006, massage has now given me a way to stay within the sporting world, working with mainly atheletes of all calibers for the last couple years. When I am not that the clinic, I enjoy playing music in a local band and I still participate in athletics through coaching and non-contact sports.

Meet Katherine Higgins, Massage Therapist

After attending the 2200 hour program at Sutherland Chan in Toronto, I graduated in 2005 with a strong clinical background and desire to help people.
A little over 5 years later, I've learned that finding the balance between clinical skills and intuition has made my practice what it is today. And that's the ongoing theme in my life and in my career: balance. Sometimes my approach is to look more at the physical aspects of one's case, and sometimes it's to look at the mental or emotional challenges. Either way, I try to develop an ongoing treatment and self-care plan to best suit my clients' needs and lifestyle. Seeing the shift in those I work with in the span of one hour, one week, and ultimately ongoing assures me that I'm on the right path. Massage therapy is truly more than a career for me, but a passion and my way of helping and connecting with others.

Of course, in keeping with the theme of balance, outside my work I enjoy spending time outdoors with my dog, regular yoga practice, and a dabble here or there in acrobatics.

Dr. Richard Asks some important questions of interest to Downtown Calgary residents - Chiropractor Downtown Calgary Dr. Richard Asks...

Is a muscle spasm a cause or an effect?
With the knee-jerk use of muscle relaxers, you'd think it was a cause. But it's an effect. Chiropractors know that bones don't move unless muscles move them. And muscles don't contract unless commanded by the nervous system. That's why your nervous system is the focus of our Downtown Calgary chiropractic practice.
What happens if you stop chiropractic care when you feel better?
Many Downtown Calgary folks recognize that this predisposes you to a relapse. Chiropractors know that muscles and ligaments supporting the spine don't fully heal until after symptoms subside.
